ON THE RECORD

CORRECTIONS & TAKEDOWN REQUESTS

We report on real cases from the public record. Accuracy matters to us, and so does fairness to the people named in these files.

OUR COMMITMENT

Every case published here is drawn from public records and reputable reporting, with sources listed on each file. We attribute allegations to their sources, we note when someone has not been charged, and we distinguish established fact from claim. If we have gotten something wrong, we want to fix it.

IF YOU ARE NAMED IN A CASE FILE

If you are a subject of one of our case files and believe information is inaccurate, or you wish to respond, you have a standing invitation to do so. We will include a subject’s response or statement alongside the relevant file. Silence is never treated as an admission of anything.

HOW TO REQUEST A CORRECTION OR REMOVAL

Send the following to corrections@defrostthecoldcases.com or through our contact form (select “Correction or case update”):

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

We review every request. Where a claim is substantiated, we correct the record promptly and note the correction. Where a request raises a genuine legal or factual dispute, we may temporarily unpublish the file while we review, rather than leave contested material live. We aim to acknowledge requests within a few business days.

A NOTE ON OUR PROCESS

Each case file passes an internal review checklist before publication. Cases that have not completed that review are held as drafts and are not published. This page and that process exist so that reporting on unsolved cases never comes at the cost of fairness to the living.
